Ptuj - Treasury of the Millenniums. Slovenia’s oldest city charms visitors above all with numerous places of interest such as castles, churches, museums, and art galleries. The city is further graced by the nearby Mithraic temple, the Povoden Museum, the Orpheus Monument, and an antique lapidary. Its thermal springs offer health. Ptuj is also the home of the Kurent, Slovenia’s best-known Carnival figure. Ptuj’s wine cellars are famous, and in particular, the 400-hundredyear-old wine cellar beneath the Minorite monastery will enchant you. Not far from the center of Ptuj is a golf course covering more than 50 hectares, which the diverse terrain and large number of water obstacles created by the Studenčnica stream and two lakes make an especially pleasurable challenge. Golfers here enjoy genuine contact with nature since the indigenous flora has been preserved and conditions for the introduction of animal species characteristic of the region have been established. Just a stone’s throw from the ancient heart of the city lies a golf course that is a special challenge due to its diverse terrain and great number of water hazards. The course covers more than fifty hectares and is distinguished primarily by lush greenery and water. The Studenčnica stream and two lakes complement fifteen of its eighteen holes. The course successfully combines its greenery with views of the ancient city and the authentic flora and fauna of Ptuj’s natural surroundings. The Ptuj Thermal Spa is in the immediate vicinity of the golf course and along with the hotels, bars, and restaurants in the city offers golfers additional opportunities for relaxation.
