Not far from Terme Čatež’s Thermal Riviera, the largest thermal water park in the country, golfers can enjoy one of most picturesque golf courses.
A golf course with 18 holes stretches across 47 hectares of the hundreds-year-old castle forests protected by the medieval walls of Mokrice Castle. World-renowned course architect Donald Harradine optimally designed a truly dynamic golf course, which now poses a challenge for experienced golfers as well as beginners. The course is surrounded by forests and scenic pear orchards and crosses a 200-year-old English park. Golfers face several natural obstacles, including a pond. The fifth hole (a par 4) is one of the most demanding holes in central Europe, and the 10th hole will amaze you with a majestic view of the castle.
The golf course follows the natural configuration of the hilly landscape and provides views of diverse and picturesque south-eastern Slovenia. It hosts many domestic and international golf tournaments along with various social and business or protocol events.
Rooms in a medieval castle, today a boutique hotel, and castle apartments, the guest house, and suites right by the golf course with the castle and golf restaurant and the castle winery entice visitors to prolong their stay. Guests will love not only the spa nearby, but also the town of Brežice, with its Knight’s Hall and other attractions, the vineyard hills of Bizeljsko and the hundreds-of-years-old Gorjanci forests.
